The Innovative Family Room aka GREAT ROOM of Balboa Highlands Eichler Homes
Is has been said that the term “family room” came from the Eichler design camp. His tracts were among the first to create a living space where the kitchen and a recreational space were open to each other. A mother could perform her household tasks while keeping a close eye on children’s activities. In some homes, the family room is used as a semi-formal dinning room, which allows more space in the living room, which was a living/dining combo.
It can be said the the birth of the “Great Room” in a tract home was born in Eichler Homes.
Lower Counter Height
The cooking area counter top was designed at a lower height which is not only more ergonomically correct, but it also reduces the division between cooking and living space.
