Maps & DirectionsDeveloper Joseph Eichler and his Eichler Homes, Inc. built nearly 11,000 single-family homes in Northern California, beginning in the late 1940s. They can be found in areas in and around Marin County, the East Bay, San Mateo county, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, San Jose, San Francisco, and Sacramento. The map at right shows the relationship of the 5 Southern California tracts (look for the yellow dots) to each other. Five small communities of Eichlers also stand in Southern California -- three tracts in Orange (all a little less than 60 miles south of Balboa Highlands - a little over an hour drive depending on traffic), Thousand Oaks (about 32 miles or 40 minutes north of Balboa Highlands), and Granada Hills. Together they reflect the beauty and uniqueness of the "Eichler" design and the integrity and daring of the builder behind it. Nearly 50 years later, the house that Joe built endures as a marvelous legacy. Balboa Highlands Tract MapAs you can see from the map at right, there are three main streets: Lisette, Nanette and Jimeno. There are a few more homes on Darla.
